Lasius fuliginosus

Lasius fuliginosus workers at the only site I know of in Montgomeryshire. This distinctive species is sometimes known as the Jet Ant, an English name that predates almost all other common names for an individual insect species, Gould used it in 1747 before most butterflies were named.
